Adult Beanie Hat Knitting Pattern in DK Yarn using Round Needles
Materials:
- Approximately 200g of DK weight yarn we recommend Cygnet Everyday Pato
- A set of 5mm (US 8) circular needles with a 40cm (16-inch) cable our preference is Deramores circular knitting needles stainless steel 40cm new and sealed
- A tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch marker
- Pom-pom maker (optional)
Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows in stocking stitch = 4 inches (10cm)
Instructions:
- Cast on 84 stitches onto the circular needles, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round to mark the end of the round.
- Knit every stitch for 2 inches (5cm) in K2, P2 ribbing pattern.
- Change to stocking stitch (knit every stitch) and continue for 6 inches (15cm) or until the hat measures 8 inches (20cm) from the cast-on edge.
- Begin decreasing:
- *K8, K2tog. Repeat from * to the end of the round (75 stitches remain).
- Knit 1 round.
- *K7, K2tog. Repeat from * to the end of the round (66 stitches remain).
- Knit 1 round.
- *K6, K2tog. Repeat from * to the end of the round (57 stitches remain).
- Knit 1 round.
- Continue in this manner, decreasing by 1 stitch before the K2tog on each round, until 12 stitches remain.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches, pull tight, and secure the end. Weave in all ends.
- Optional: make a pom-pom and sew it to the top of the hat.
Your beanie hat is now complete and ready to wear!
